Majestic East Coast - Biking Tour Overview

This tour is everything you want. A bit of culture, lots of active days and some time to relax, live and enjoy your exotic cycling trip in Taiwan to the fullest.

Just imagine: After a full day relaxing and living Taipei, this great tour will give you the opportunity to cycle the most extraordinary locations of Taiwan.

 

Once settled in our personally selected hotel, we will have a full-day cycling and visiting Taipei. The next day, we pedal across the Northern Central Mountain Range to catch your first great vista of the blue water of the Pacific Ocean. We will enjoy a cool ride down all the way to our first Hotspring Hotel.

The next day starts with a train ride to Taroko Gorge where we will cycle part of the King of the Mountain Route. The ride down is exhilarating. After a great night, we continue south following the ocean and over the Coastal Mountain to a famous Hot Spring for a great evening. We then pedal to a small authentic indigenous community to make our own tofu.

We then cycle once again through the hill back to a small beachside village where we will spend a day to rest. We will go to the beach, maybe surf or SUP; or just read a book. Just enjoy and soak up your adventure.

We once again ride south past Taitung the ocean to the left offering you superb views of the Pacific. We go up and down to a small indigenous community to have a great night before our last day cycling via the southernmost point of Taiwan to Kenting.

Tour Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Arrival in Taipei

    Since all group members will be arriving at diffrent times from diffrent parts of the world, today is arrival day. We will happily meet you at the airport (optional) or at the hotel.

    Meals: For today, no meals are included.

  • Day 2 - Sightseeing Taipei

    After a taking the time to officially meet and go over all the important details, we will finally start pedaling. We will go around Taipei to visit 4 great must-see locations. We will also use the very neat Taipei MRT (the highspeed train system).

    We will take the time to enjoy:

    • This marvel of architecture has been standing for over a hundred years and mixes in a traditional design with European influences giving it a unique look that you won´t find anywhere else

    • With its pristine white walls and ornate rooftops; not only is this temple a wonder to look at, in and of itself, but there are also always artistic exhibitions on the inside to make any visit worth the trip.

    • The amazing temple was first built as a small wooden shrine over 250 years ago, meant for Chinese immigrants to be able to pray. Decades of renovations and expansions made it worthy of the UNESCO award for cultural heritage and conservation!

    • The museum is one of the must-see Taiwanese wonders. It houses more than 700 thousand artifacts and pieces of art that exemplify over 8000 years of Chinese history and culture.

  • Day 3 - Taipei > Suao

    Finally we start cycling. We will start by riding our bikes out of Taipei and up to Pinglin. We then let gravity takes us down to Lanyang Plains and give us a first view of the Pacific Ocean. We will follow the coast to Suao.

    Suao is famous for its cold spring. This low-temperature carbonate mineral cold spring remains at 22℃ (72℉) year round.

  • Day 4 - Suao > Hualien > Taroko > Hualien

    We´ll start the day early and take the train south to the mouth of Taroko Gorge. Just sit and enjoy the scenery of the Suhua coastline. Be ready to enjoy the astonishing vistas and attractions that Taroko has to offer.

    Taroko Gorge will treat us to pristine and powerful rivers, gorges of marble; beautifully carved over millennia; auspicious bridges, breathtaking vantage points of the coast and quaint temples. After a long day of cycling Taiwan´s East Coast, sightseeing and building memories, we´ll be treated to a nice night of rest at the beautiful Lakeshore Hualien Hotel

  • Day 5 - Hualien > An Tong Hot Spring

    The further south we go the more we will see all the richness of Taiwan. While still treated to the beutiful vistas of the pacific and the gentle breezes coming from the coast, we´ll also see the different formations that the water and time have created.

    Our day of riding will take us to Yuli, home of the famous An Tong Hot Springs. Those of you who want to relax will have a chance to bathe in their rejuvenating waters.

  • Day 6 - An Tong > Fuli > Dulan

    Most of today´s riding will take place through the east rift valley, a beautiful spanse between the coastal mountains and the central peaks. We will be delighted by views of rice fields and tea farms as well as the calming sounds of waterfalls.

    After the midway point we´ll start heading back towards the coast, ending our day of cycling through the unforgettable valleys, we´ll reach Dulan, home of a quaint sugar factory where you can procure adorable native crafts. You may also hit the beach for a relaxing afternoon.

  • Day 7 - Rest Day in Dulan

    We know, we know! a rest day? are we all crazy?. Sure we came all the way to Taiwan to be on the road, but after 6 days of riding, walking, swimming and sitting on our saddles, our bodies deserve a little break.

    If you want to burn some more calories you can hit the beach for a surfing lesson or you can ride to the fantastic and famous Dulan Forest. Otherwise just rest at the hotel or go sightseeing on the close-by cape.

  • Day 8 - Dulan > Mudan

    Today is one of the longest days in our cycling tour. We will go all the way from Dulan to Mudan, cycling through two different counties. But worry not! he sounds of the coast, the inspiring views and the gentle breezes will carry us all the way.

    In Mudan we will rest at a majestic cottage; the Red Tile Inn. An unforgettable place managed by a dedicated owner, native of the area, who will make your stay feel less like being at a hotel and more like staying at a friend´s house.

  • Day 9 - Mudan > Kenting

    We´ve made it! We´re on the final riding day of our cycling tour. We´ve seen temples, waterfalls, farms, villages and the beautiful coast with all it´s unforgettable variety. We´ve challenged our bodies and opened our minds by immersing ourselves into this beautiful country and its culture.

    One final push will reward us with an arrival at the Kenting National Park. A huge spanse of land home to over 100 different animal species, astonishing views of coral bedlands and beautiful beaches of deep blue water.

  • Day 10 - Transfer to Kaohsiung - End of a great Adventure

    This is the official end-day of our Taiwan Cycling Tour. Thank you for pedaling next to us in this amazing adventure. We hope that you take as many beautiful memories as we do.

    Today, after a group farewell activity, exchanging contacts with all the friends we made on the road and enjoying breakfast at the hotel, you will be transferred to the Taiwan Highspeed Train station so you can ride it all the way back to Taipei, or to the Kaohsiung International Airport to take a flight home (depending on your travel preparations).
